Zizia aurea (Golden Alexanders)

Zizia aurea (Golden Alexanders) is a medium height perennial prairie plant with beautiful yellow flowers. It is an attractive, earlier flowering plant with a longer bloom time thank most and can do well in landscaped settings.  It can add early interest in the garden as well as needed nectar for those earlier pollinators. This plant is a host for the Black Swallowtail. Very similar to Zizia aptera (Heart-leaved Meadow Parsnip) in most ways except (Golden Alexanders)has compound leaves rather than heart-shaped leaves.
